Hello
In a number of my pictures, I have some faces which are detected which are of no interest, as these are strangers (like people in the background on a photo of my family)
When I am in the viewer, I delete the corresponding  green frames (select and then Suppr) so that iMatch will never again try to map this face to any person
When I am in PEOPLE, with one person selected, and I am reviewing the faces, I wanted to know if the command "Ignore" does the same.

Mario

Ignore always does the same. See the documentation in the People help topic.

And what does the delete Button do? (in face manager)

Mario

It deletes the face?
The tooltip of the button reads "Deletes all selected faces".
Just checked, does exactly that.

Press <F1> while in the FM to open the corresponding help which explains all commands and features.

Deleting the green frames indeed removes all face references. Doing the "Ignore" keeps the face reference in the database albeit may not use it.

The problem I have with "Ignore" is the People List "Unknown Persons" gets clogged up with all of these "Ignored" persons as well as all the "?" persons. Maybe there should be a separate category for each of "Unknown" and "Ignored".

Mario

A ignored person has no person assigned and is hence by definition a unknown person.
The way IMatch behaves is correct. I explicitly did not want to add yet another separation for persons with faces but which have been ignored.
This is way too complex for many users already. Delete faces you are not interested in and all works as you want. Only ignore faces if you want to retain the info that this image has a face of an unknown person.

So for me, a person in the background which face has been detected, and which will be of no interest to me, now and in the future, I should either delete the green frame in the viewer either delete the faces in face manager. Clear
