I wonder if  iMatch has option on which field(s) to write caption to? I also use other applications and when I write a description to a photo in Imatch it also fills the Title field in the other application. It seems like this just concerns Nef-files not exported with a jpg-version from DxO. Jpg-files don`t fill the title field.

Is it possible to let Imatch just write caption to "dc:description" for example?

The term caption was used in legacy IPTC metadata back in the day.

Today you have the standardized metadata tags in XMP: title, description and headline.

The XMP description is mapped to several other legacy IPTC and EXIF tags, as defined in the XMP and MWG standards.
Image description in IFD0, User comment in EXIF, XMP-exif user comment to mirror the native EXIF and XMP-tiff image description.

The headline is XMP-photoshop headline, for historic reasons.
The title goes to XMP-dc title.

I don't see why your other application would display the description/caption as the title. Title is a totally separate field.
