I have read about the people tagging in Imatch help topic. I want to run the people organizer for a group of photos ( a folder) after the face detection is done. But I didn`t find out how I could select just one folder to run the people organizer? I have to be in the people view to run it I guess? My goal is to group similar looking photos to make the confirming process faster.

Mario

You can use the "Unknown Persons" person in combination with a Folder Filter?

Thank you.

Some questions about the people tagging in Imatch:

In people view I have a collection with "Unknown Persons". But inside it there is a mix of confirmed (from Mylio and Imatch), suggested by Imatch and photos detected but not connected to persons yet. Can I refresh it so the confirmed photos go away from this collection?

In the category view there is a category called "Imatch-FaceConvert-NoTag" Here is also a mix of confirmed photos, suggestions and photos with no tag. Why? Can I refresh this in any way or do I have to go through one by one? I tried to click on the two blue arrows to refresh, but nothing happened.

Does Imatch learn of confirmed photos from Mylio or just when they are assigned and confirmed in Imatch?

When I try the people tagging in the viewer, it sometimes takes some time (some seconds) for the face annotations to show up or Imatch is updating so it takes some time to move from one photo to another. Something I can do with this?

Today Imatch exit two times when I worked with people tagging in Imatch. I have attached a log file.

I don't know what Mylio does with persons, if it does add usable tags. I have used it only shortly, to see how much damage it does to metadata.
See Working with XMP Face Regions in the IMatch help to learn how IMatch imports existing faces from XMP, how it creates persons from them etc.

The Unknown persons collection should only contain images with at least one unknown person.
Maybe run a database diagnosis to check that everything is in place.

Please also upload the Debug Dump File to your cloud space and send me a link.

IMatch reported many problems reading your images files (required when doing face recog and no cache file exists).
I see a large number of messages like Only thumbnail or small preview extracted. Falling back to ptc RAW processing in the log. But it seems you are using only JPEG files, which don't require RAW processing?
Maybe just the system became unstable or the WIC codec crashed or LibRaw...
If you get now DUMP file, the WIC codec or some other external component (outside of the control of IMatch) has crashed.

Note that face recognition requires a lot of processing power and when IMatch also has to create temporary cache files at the same time, your PC may become overloaded (depending on the spec).
See Background Face Processing for more info and how you can control this.

Quote" to see how much damage it does to metadata". Then I hope things have changed since you tried it for a short time;)

We've just discussed this last week, I believe. The Mylio does not see changes in GPS coordinates thread.
They still produce only minimal XMP data, don't sync EXIF/GPS/legacy IPTC as needed, insist on storing XMP sidecar files for file formats which require embedded XMP data by the standard etc. Not much has changed, I believe.
Metadata is definitely one of Mylios strengths.
And their typical (I prersume) user base does not know or care about such strange things like metadata.
And only recognizes problems when they work with software other than Mylio. So, whatever works for them is good.
They have good marketing and PR, though. Lot's to learn from that.

Mario

Just to make this clear: I have nothing against Mylio. It seems to work well for many people.
I just hate it when metadata problems produced by other software boils up in IMatch (because IMatch cares) and I lose time over and over again, analyzing these problems and explaining them to the user.
I'd just wish all would stick to the standards and do it right. But metadata handling is not sexy, does not produce flashy images for the web site or PR and so...
