Bing Maps Reverse Geo Coding

I have entered Bing Maps API key. Also changed the map to Bing Maps Road.

In Edit > Preferences > Geo & Maps I wanted to change the Provider Search and Geocoding Service to Bing maps but there is not option to do this (on both my Windows 10 desktop and laptop). The only options are Geonames.org, google and here.

How do select Bing Maps?

I tried to use geonames but get the attached error on both my desktop and laptop.

Subsequent to the above, I managed to setup Google and it worked perfectly.

I only support GeoNames.org, Google and Bing for reverse geocoding. No Bing.
I support Google, OSM, Bing and HERE for mapping.

The IMatch log file (log file) should contain a more detailed error message, as returned from GeoNames.org.

Make sure you not only CREATE a GeoNames.org user account, but you also need to ACTIVATE it. This second step is not really made clear on their web site and so users often don't do it. And then a connection is not possible or rejected.

Sorry I'm confused. You say above that you support Bing twice and then you say "No Bing"

See log extract below when trying to retrieve GeoNames.

I have activated the account "Welcome to geonames. Your account has been confirmed and you are now logged in."

By the way, I subscribed to this post but didn't receive an email notification in my inbasket or spam. Same thing with previous posts

Typo, my bad.
This should have read (as documented in the help):
I only support GeoNames.org, Google and HERE for reverse geocoding. No Bing.

The log file tells us:

PTWGet::RetrieveFromNet: Access denied.

This means your user account is either wrong (typo, extra spaces) or you have not activated it yet on the GeoNames.org web site.

Thanks it's working now. So for anyone else who has the same problem, the steps with GeoNames are:

1. Create an Account

2. Activate the account by clicking on the email link GeoNames sends you.

3. Logon to account and then click on your user name top right.

4. Activate "Free Web Services". You will then get a message "The account ******** has been successfully enabled to use the free webservices."
