GPS Date in RAW files but not in JPG

I have images where only the RAW (NEF) file contains the icon for GPS data but not in the JPG file.
Can this happen?
Is there an easy and fast way to transfer the GPS data to the corresponding JPG files?
We are talking about several 100 images.

If you have file relations properly configured so each JPG is a version of its master RAW image, then you can propagate the GPS metadata from the RAWs to the JPGs by going to

Menu > Commands > Relations > Propagate data to versions

However this won't work unless you have everything configured properly in Preferences > File Relations.

As to the reason why it's not already in the JPGs the answer to that depends how you processed those JPGs in another program.

Precisely.
If the JPG was created by your camera, the camera should have written the GPS data to the JPG.
If the JPG was created by another software - then it depends on which software and what you do with it.

IMatch can copy metadata between master and version files automatically thanks to the unique IMatch versioning feature.

If you don't use versions, IMatch will not copy data for you.
IMatch does not copy data willy-nilly between files.

What application did you use to create the JPEG and why did it not copy the GPS data? You apparently want that, right?

You can either setup versioning and then propagate the metadata once manually to copy whatever you want copied from the NEF to the JPEG.
Or you do it manually for each file yourself with the Copy Attributes command.

But nobody really does this. That's what versioning in IMatch is for, it does this automatically.

Or, check your workflow and the applications you use to produce the JPG from the NEF, and ensure that the data you want copied is copied.

Just a thought: With your NEF file you should have an .xmp file.
So it should be possible to copy the data with exiftool from the xmp file to the jpg.

Which is basically what the Copy Attributes command in IMatch does.

Although, with some command-line trickery it should be possible to make ExifTool copy data between XMP and JPG for all files in a folder at once.
But that's not my area of expertise. Phil has many examples online in the ExifTool FAQ and there is also the dedicated ExifTool forum.

About the versioning I was able to solve the problem.
Not only that. During my experiments I learned a lot about versions, filters and categories.
