Setting relations based on Metadata

When checking for how to automatically set relations of files, I could not find a way to set it based on Metadata.
Is this somehow possible?

Example: Set all Files as related which have the same Headline

Only the 5 options offered in the drop-down list are available.
Not sure about your specific use case, but you can use a File Name mask (that always matches) and then limit it to the same headline via the "Limit by Variables"? See Using Variables (Advanced Topic)

I feared something like this.

Unfortunatly the file-name is the problem, because it can differ completely (e.g. if you provide it to someone who needs a different file-name).

I thought about the XMP DocumentID, but I think this will not work anymore if you use images for composings in Photoshop

Adobe software used DocumentId, InstanceId, DerivedFrom etc.
But if you do composings, all bets are off. Because, which one to choose for the XMP document tags?
You can set the document id of the files in IMatch. Then versioning kicks in automatically.

I think I have to dig deeper in this.
In the worst case, I have to set the relations manually

Yes. You can use a free online GUID generator to create some really unique ids for this purpose. They produce hundreds or thousands in one go and you can keep them in a text file or the IMatch Notepad.
And then delete them if you have used them.

Or just do manual versions.
IMatch offers you many choices - although it naturally cannot support every possible case.
