Variable-Use Possible In Formula Categories?

Data-driven categories can make use of variables.  But, likewise, is it also possible to use a variable for @MetadataTag[], where Formula Categories are concerned?

No. As documented, this formula works with metadata tags. Else it would be documented that it supports variables.
