That's it, then...

... I've just finally moved my developer workstation PC to Windows 11. No problems so far.

Except for my pinned folders on the task bar having vanished.
Windows 11 does not support this, probably for a more restricted but more clean look, not sure.
Not a big deal, just a slight step back in quick access and usability. Not sure how many of the 1 billion Windows users out there used that  :)

I've kept my main development workstation on W10 for a couple of extra months after switching my tablet and other PC to W11 a while ago. Just to be on the safe side. You know...

I'll keep a W10 installation running on a virtual machine for testing, but I doubt that there are many Windows 10 users left in the IMatch user base.
I've deleted the W7 and W8 machines after the number of users running IMatch on these old systems dropped below 0.5% (Telemetry and web site access).

Well, I am, for now. Not deliberately, mainly because Windows 11 was never offered as an update. And Windows 10 runs smoothly, so I did not have any urgent need to find out what's missing. But just to be sure, I checked with the tool Microsoft provides and got a message about a missing TPM 2.0 module. Seems like I will have to check my BIOS settings. The PC is fairly new and powerful enough, so it should be there. I hope...

My laptop is now Win 11, but my desktop is too old... With luck, GPU prices will come down before I upgrade the PC.

Windows 10 will run and be supported by Microsoft for many years (around 2025 for the end-of-life I guess).
I have no plans to lock/bind IMatch to Windows 11.

A missing or deactivated TPM (in the BIOS) is the most common reason for Windows 11 not being offered.
My old developer workstation has only TPM 1.1 and thus will never run Windows 11. It runs Linux and Windows 10 just fine.

Same for me.. no update offer, etc.

I also never use pinned apps in the taskbar... I've been using Listary Pro for years to quick launch applications, jump to folders, etc.  Have it bound to my Pause/Break button.. can launch apps with a quick keypress and 1-2 letters of the app.  I also use it to launch websites quickly... very handy!

W10 still here too. I'll get an update offer sometime in the (near?) future, but my travelling laptop will still be W10.

When I switch to W11 on my desktop, will I still be able to use P&G to run the database on my travelling laptop (W10)?

Mario

Yes. IMatch and Windows 10/11 are compatible and Windows 10 will run and be supported until 2025.

And Win10 is all I can run on my old PC... so no upgrade to Win11 for a while yet...

Not much of a difference, really.
W10 will do whatever you need. I'll run my old workstation on Windows 10 until it becomes unsupported in 2025 or the hardware fails, whatever comes first  ;)

Hehe, proves how different users can work. I never used keyboard shotcuts much, except for copy/paste. Why? Because most what I do is done with the mouse anyway and I hate having to move my hand back and forth between the mouse and the keyboard. Call it lazyness  8) (and I struggle to remember keyboard shortcuts that I don't use at least once a day  :(  ...)

That's normal. Which is why IMatch has this in the Favorites Panel:

and we have the IMatch Notepad to keep track of keyboard shortcuts, workflows, tips & tricks we use.

And of course the awesome Keyboard Cheat Sheets in the Help System.

I know, and that's great. But it's not a shortcut anymore if I have to search for it first when I don't remember it  ;)

I am still using Windows 10 as long as possible and waiting for Windows 12...
