Cannot adjust metadata panel

Help! I cannot adjust metadata panel...

Some documents were on my keyboard and looks liked they activated keyboard when the meta panel was active.
As you will see from the attached jpg the text on the left is taking up  all the space leaving little space to type in data. I can't work out how to get it back to original format.... 30 minutes of trying and reading manual!

From the Metadata Panel help

You can change the width of the caption column with the mouse. Move the mouse cursor over the caption until the mouse cursor changes into a left-right arrow. Then click and move the mouse to change the caption width.
