I tried to reproduce the old "Assign" bar from IMatch 3.6 because I have a large category tree but some of these categories I need very often and others not. The old Assign bar was very helpful but I do not get it realized in IMatch 5. As I see I can define several category tabs in the category panel but each tab contains all categories of one selected parent category. What I need is a list of categories of several parent categories of my tree.
Is that possible?

Richard

Have you read about "Favorites" in the help file?

Mario

Favorites is one of the features which can help you with this. Definitely read the help on that.

Another cool feature is the Category Panel. It allows you to add up to five additional tabs, and each of these tabs can contain a sub-section of your large category tree. This feature has been explicitly designed for users with large category trees. See the IMatch 5 help for details.

Also, the Filter panel below the category tree in the Category View allows you to find specific categories quickly or to limit the categories displayed in the tree to categories matching a specific pattern.

I know about the additional tabs, I wrote about that in my first post. Perhaps my English is not good enough.

I will read about the favorites.

Thanks for help.

Hi Joe,

I am using very often label-sets for the keywords/categories. I described it in https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=45.msg149#msg149

Quote1. Go to favorites
2. Press "new"
3. name it how you want
4. drag & drop the keyword you want

There is also (but in german) a comparison between IDimager and IMatch, which also shows this concept: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qp07h1d1qkwvhp6/01%20IDimager%20vers%20IMatch.pdf

If it is this, you want. My english is bad either.

Kind regards

That works fine with the categories.
The category buttons are very high. Is there a possibility to change the height of these buttons? I did not find anything about that in the manual.

@Menace
Thanks for that. I am German and so I will have no problem reading your concept.

The height is controlled by the system font size and the minimal icon size. It cannot be changed by the user.
But Favorites automatically adapt to utilize the available screen estate optimally. You can snug a lot of favorites in a very small tab:

And you can create any number of tabs. And if you use very long category names, you can even shorten them for the Favorites. The Favorite tool tip shows the full name automatically.

That looks good in your picture but I do not get more than one row of categories inside the panel. You have three rows. How do I change that?
In the manual I also see two rows but no description how to do that.

Mario

That is automatic. If the width of the category names allows it, IMatch will automatically start to add columns until the panel is full and a scroll bar is needed. If you make your Favorites panel very small, or the names you use very long, this will not work.
Change the size of the Favorites panel to see the effect.

Ok, I thought it would make a second column if there is enough space in the width of the column but I do not have enough categories in my first column until now.
I think it would be a good idea if I could create the number of columns by hand (with a setting). So I could arrange the favorites in a kind of group. These groups would need empty fields in some cases to create the group.
So this would be an feature request.

Mario

I think for all non-trivial setups the auto columns work well. I want to avoid piling options on top of options. IMatch has over 200 settings already...
But add a feature request to the appropriate board so we have it listed and other users can comment on your suggestion.
