Quick Filter Vs. Filter Panel

One difference, as far as I can tell, between the File Window Quick Filter and the Filter Panel is that the former allows one to have, for instance, the quick filter active for the Media & Folders view and inactive for, say, the Collections view.  On the other hand, the Filter Panel is either paused/unpaused for all views - Media & Folders, Categories, Collections, People, Events, etc.  Is this by design, or can the Filter Panel be like the Quick Filter?

Mario

This behavior is by design. The Quick Filter Panel is global.

I was not aware that there is a "Quich Filter Ribbon". So tried to use it, but can't make it run.
Online help says: Open and close the Quick Filter with Shift + Ctrl + Q or the corresponding button in the File Window ribbon.
- Shift + Ctrl + Q does not do anything in my file Window.
- The filter symbol shown in online help does not exist in file window (see attached file).

I can filter for rating or label etc. (see attached file), but in my understanding it is part of the filter panel, not the quick filter ribbon.

Do I completely misunderstand this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help.

This feature is only available when experimental features are enabled. See Experimental Features

Note that this will also enable all the cool other features IMatch experimental mode currently offers: new ribbons instead of toolbars, new menus, new icons etc. See the release notes (https://www.photools.com/release-notes/) when I explain about these things with the [EXP] tag in the headline.

Have to admit - I've gotten so used to the new ribbons/quick filters and icons - I'd be sad to see them go away!

All the time, work and money I invest into re-creating all icons as vector graphics (120+ icons so far and many other graphics) and in implementing my own ribbon and menu system is for IMatch 2024/2025. Part of the face-lift.

I just roll them into the 2023 code base currently to enable interested users to experiment with these rather substantial changes, provide feedback when something does not work or scale correctly etc. This will catch all(most) issues as early as possible.
Maintaining two side-by-side implementations of toolbars, ribbons, menus and icons adds to my workload, but I think this extra work is worth it. It seems to have stabilized quite well already, no issues reported for several weeks.

At some point in time, these experimental features will become 'non-experimental' and will be removed from IMatch 2023.
New experimental features will be added as needed.

Yeah.. I guess that will be a pain point for those of us that have gotten used to it and have to wait for them to hopefully appear in IM2024/2025... they work so well - I'd call them non-experimental at this point - but I do understand they are listed as experimental for a reason!

Mario

They are part of IMatch 2024/2025. Like many other new features and enhancements I have already finished.
I maintain two versions of IMatch (2023 and 2024/2025) side-by-side currently.
