Hello,
I accidentally deleted a photo from IM.
When I noticed this, I restored the photo from a backup from the previous day. I was then amazed to see that the annotations (assignments to persons) were there again. It is a JPG file.
Why is that? I had expected that the assignments would have to be made again.

I believe this is the point - possible that you have deleted a photo from IM not from disk?

frankdarwin

Unfortunately not.
I deleted the photo in IM from the directory, not just from the database.

Working with XMP Face Regions maybe?
If the file was written back, IMatch has persisted face annotations as XMP face regions and stored the person tags as tags for these regions. When you re-import the files, IMatch finds the face regions, finds the tags and matches them to persons automatically.
