Option to skip Rejected Files in the Viewer

When we press the Delete Key while working in the Viewer, the file is marked with a "Temporary Delete Indication" (the Filmstrip shows an "X" over the file):

      You cannot view this attachment.

...and when we Exit the Viewer, we are asked what to do with the files marked that way.

While navigating around within the Viewer, after having marked some files for deletion, those files are then skipped (if the corresponding option is set in Edit->Preferences->Application).

It would be nice if there was an option to treat Files with the Reject Rating that way as well...(or if the existing option could be re-defined to "Skip Deleted/Rejected Files").

For example, if we send a set of Files to the Viewer, mark some for Deletion, and upon Exit, select the option to set the Reject Rating for those files.  If we now press Enter, to send that exact same set of files to the Viewer, it would be nice for those files we marked in the previous Viewer Session (which now appear with a different marker in the Filmstrip):

      You cannot view this attachment.

...to still be skipped as we navigate around.

I understand you open the Viewer with rejected files, but want to skip over them?
Why not just filter rejected files out of your selection before opening the Viewer? That's one click in the Filter Panel.

How long to you retain rejected files? I usually reject files while culling and then delete them in one go afterwards.

Just a matter of consistency: If I select to not show rejected files in the viewer then it should not matter how /when the
files where rejected.

Pressing <Del> in the Viewer does not reject a file.
Different thing. <Del> marks the file and you later decide if you want to reject the files, delete them etc. or reset the marked state without further action.

Viewing rejected files in the Viewer to make a final decision is a perfectly common workflow and hiding rejected files would break that.
Adding yet another option to the Viewer to not only skip marked files but also rejected files requires a bit more than one or two likes. Other users could ask for skipping bookmarked files or files with as red dot or a yellow label.

This is the workflow I've adopted:

1 - turn on filter to not show rejected files in main window
2 - choose 20-30 similar photos and launch the viewer
3 - select 8 of them, review and reject those that don't make the cut
4 - rinse and repeat through all files in viewer often doing another round with the non-rejected ones
5 - exit viewer

At this point, all the rejected images disappear from the main window thx to the filter.

When, I'm done with the session for that files window, I invert the filter, select all and delete from the database.

It's pretty effective!

I can certainly see that, so this would probably need to be a separate option for those users that would want this, but:

...so I guess we'll have to see if any other users will want this.

I actually used to select the option to Delete the Marked files, upon exiting the Viewer, and only recently started setting the Reject Rating instead.  It was after having done that in a particular Viewer Session, and then almost immediately sending the exact same FileSet to the Viewer (including the now Rejected Files), that I thought: "it would be nice if the Rejected Files were also skipped" (to preserve the behavior I had in the previous Viewer session).  I navigated to a file where I thought: wait, didn't I already "delete" this one?  And I had (as indicated by the Reject symbol in the Filmstrip Thumbnail), but this was a new Viewer Session (with no Marked Files), so the file was not skipped (as it would have been in the previous Viewer Session - only a few seconds prior).

IMatch gives us many ways to do things though, and I keep refining my workflow, based on the wonderful advice given in this forum...

So far the FR has no likes.
There is always the one situation where acting IMatch in a specific way would be helpful. Once. Or only for one user.

The Viewer rejects files you have marked during that Viewer session and postpones the final steps to take until you close the Viewer. That works well. Same as the promote and demote features.

I don't see a real benefit in also skipping rejected files, bookmarked files, files with a rating less than 4 or maybe a purple label. All of that can be archived, with great flexibility, by the Filter Panel. Even at a single click via a Favorite.

As always, if a sufficiently large number of users Like the original FR, I will look into it.
