.lrtemplate files don't show

Hi I've searched the forums for anyting related to .lrtemplate and I can't seem to find anything; if someone could link me to any helpful posts or help system pages related to this, that would be great

I want to show these files, they are in my opinion very essential assets that I need to track yet it doesn't show and I thought I could add any file extension I wanted when I frst setup iMatch and I do see an option to add custom ones I think? (I did try adding the extension through the file format tab in preferences) I also see that XMP files don't appear either although I don't exactly need to see those, its nice to know that they're there rather than assuming its empty because it looks empty even though its not actually empty.

XMP files are automatically handled.
Application-specific configurations files are usually useless for a DAM.
You can make your Lr template and other arbitrary files Buddy Files, but it makes usually not a lot of sense to add settings files, schemas and other auxiliary  files produced by applications to a DAM. If you really, really have to and you see any advantage in "seeing" these files in IMatch, use User-defined Formats to define them.
I use Lr myself, but I never saw a need to do this. Many RAW processors and other software uses one or more proprietary files, sometimes even entire folders full of stuff. Nothing of this is really a managed asset.

I see what you're saying, I can ignore the XMPs but .lrtemplates are template files for use in LR and IMO I do want to see them because I want to put them in the categories they fit in (yeah I get that's silly I suppose but I do not have these stored with LR so, I do want to move them later that's why I want to manage them).

Then make a user-defined format (Text Files type or Auxiliary type) for the extension and afterwards rescan the folders containing these files to bring the files into the database. IMatch will manage them like any other file, but it won't show a preview or a thumbnail of course. Which should be fine, I guess.
