How do I Reset flag for Reject and Pending write-back

I have 2 questions:

1.  How do I remove the reject flag?  I hit the delete flag and now I don't want to delete.  I see the image is marked for delete and if I hit delete again its gone but I want to remove this flag.  I went to collections and I see the number showing how many (4 images).  I just don't want to make a mistake.

2.  How do I remove the reset the pencil "writeback" flag?  I made some date changes and now I see the pencil which is telling me to click it to write back the changes but I have changed my mind (I modified a date).  I was looking in the manual and didn't see the explanation.  I was hoping I could do something like right click and choose remove pending writeback for selected files.

It appears that Reset rating may remove the reject flag but not the write back pencil flag .   I want to be clear.  I saw your answer to Twe in an earlier post which said use Undo but the changes I made were about 5 minutes ago and I did a few other things after that.

1.  Reject flag?  There is a reject rating, you can't remove the reject rating collection from IMatch but you can remove images from the reject rating collection by simply selecting them and hitting the Delete key again as you noticed.  You can configure how reject works in Preferences > Application > Rejected files.

2.  Undo?  That won't get rid of the pencil but depending on what you did it could undo whatever you did to cause the writeback option (pencil) to be triggered.  To get rid of the pencil simply click it to write the changes.

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, I should have said Reject rating.

As for the pencil (writeback) I don't want to click on the pencil because the changes will be written to the metadata (images).   (I changed some dates in the Metadata panel).

What I would like to do is something like "right click on the pencil" and say "clear pending write" or remove write pending from this image.

The <Del> key works as a toggle. The first time you press it it sets the Reject rating. This marks the file for a later delete. Press <Del> again to remove the reject rating. I suggest you read the Rejecting Files help topic for detailed explanations, and what rejecting files actually does.

a) You can Undo recent changes to metadata (e.g. changing a date) via the Edit > undo command (also works for many other commands). Do this when you changed metadata and saved it to the database but want to undo that.

b) If undo is no longer available, you can reset the "I need to write something" state of the file by reloading the metadata again: From the context menu choose Rescan while holding down <Ctrl> to get the extended options. In the dialog, choose Reload metadata.. You also pres <Shift>+<Ctrl>+<F5> for the same effect.

Note that the "protect metadata settings" under Edit > Preferences > Metadata may get in the way in this case. If enabled, these options keep metadata with the "modified" state when you re-import metadata. This is to protect changes you have done in IMatch in the case another application modifies metadata in the file. You may temporarily need to disable these options.

The Database > Tools > Reset Processing Queues command is a last resort, e.g. when you have accidentally selected and modified the metadata for thousands of files and you want to reset the write-back state of all these files. It also removes all files currently in the queue for rescan, pending search engine updates and relation updates. So in your case, better use the Reload Metadata command as described above.
