"sticky" Pending Metadata Write-back

I have 367 images Pending Metadata Write-back which I can't remove. They are all raw files of various types so they are all versions, not masters. All of the ones where I have hovered over the pen icon show GPSDestDistance as the field which needs to be written. I don't intentionally ever set GPS dest details. The images vary in age from 2012 through to 2022. I can't see any pattern.

The attached log files show the following:

Start IMatch with the 367 images showing as pending
Write back all pending (which doesn't clear them)
Select and Rescan all of them using Ctrl-Shift-F5 selecting Force Update which appears to clear them
Database Diagnostics which reports these images as being in error and flags them Pending again
