Propagate data to versions

I have set up versioning from jpg to nef.  Propagation works fine for NEW items (like collection, rating, bookmark etc), so if I set a category og a bookmark, it is imidiately propagated to the version.  But what I want is that my EXISTING categories to propagate. How can i acomplish that ? (have tried manual f4,p also)

For one year I photographed in raw, but exported only jpeg files to Imatch. What I am trying to do now, is to bring the original NEF files into Imatch, and use versioning to propagate alle the current categories from jpegs to nef files. (and then later, remove the jpeg files). The problem is that when versioning i set up, it does not propagate the current categories, only what I assign after the versioning is set up. What is the recommended way  to "copy" all categories and descriptions from jpeg to nef files ?
