Images that appear to be Duplicates are not Duplicates

Please see the attachment.  Under Media and Folders and I was looking at a folder (IphonePics) and I saw two images with the same name (IMG_0145.png).  I was about to delete one of them when I noticed in the Metadata panel that this image was in a different folder (DianesIpadPics).

Why is this image showing up in IMATCH under the folder IphonePics when it is located in DianesIpadPics (a different folder)?

There are no Writebacks pending.

Thanks for helping!

Michael

Most likely both images are in different folders.

You have enabled the option to display hierarchies for the file window. IMatch will thus show the images in the selected folder and the images in its sub-folders, up to the number of levels you have chosen. If you also enable the option to flatten the hierarchy, you only see one bunch of files, without an indication from which folder they come from.

Use the file window tooltip (the 'I' icon) to see which folder the files come from.

Mario:

I'm really confused on this one.  I chose "Show one level" which I thought would only show me images from the selected folder in "Media Folders" , yet it is showing me images from multiple folders.  (See screen capture attachment 1).  In fact, no matter what I choose under hierarchy, it keeps showing me these images from different folders.

When I click to the right of the image to pop up the window tooltip it shows they are in the same folder but I know they are not (see attachment 2).  The Metadata panel rightfully dhows they are in different folders.

Let me know what I am doing wrong ...

Thanks Mario!

Mike

P.S.  The directory DianesIpadPics is not a subfolder of IphonePics.

The one file is named IMG_0145.PNG and the other IMG_0145(2).PNG
These are two separate files.

Mario:

Can you please look again.  There are 2 images (side by side) in the attachment on the previous post with the exact same filename (IMG_0145.PNG).

There is also one named IMG_0145 (2) but I'm not referring to this image.

Sorry, the screen shots are only barely readable on my monitor. May be my eyes. I'm currently sitting 16 hours/day 7 days a week in front of the monitor to get IMatch 5 out of the door...

1. Did you try to just give the files a quick rescan (Shift+Ctrl+F5) to see if this solves the problem?
2. Did you run a database diagnosis to check for invalid links in your database.

Let me know how this works out.

Mario:

Shame on me .... I had run Shift+Cntrl+F5 several times and tried other things.  BUT, I had not run database diagnosis.  It found errors and I had to run it twice and then it corrected everything and now I am O.K.

Not sure what happened because I had run database Diagnosis a few days a go and all was well.

Sorry to have bothered you!

Did you keep the original diagnosis log file? It will tell me what was wrong.

In general: While running the Beta, it's is advisable to run diagnosis often to get immediate info on problems.
