In IMatch 3.6 you can select a file and move to any drive and/or folder. How can you move a file in IMatch 5?

The same way in media and folders view (Drag and Drop).

Richard

In addition to Drag and Drop you can also Cut and Paste.

From IMatch Help -> File Management in IMatch
QuoteMoving Files To move one or more files, select the files in the file window and press Ctrl+X to cut them into the Windows clipboard. Switch to the target folder and press Ctrl+V to paste the files into this folder. You can also use the corresponding commands available in the file window context menu.

Mario

Type Move in the Index tab in the IMatch help for all related information.

I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear. I want to move a file to a hard drive -> folder that is not part of my database. Like it shows in this image.

You can just drag the file (or files) from an IMatch File Window to a Windows Explorer window.

1. Open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to the folder to which you want to move the file(s).
2. Select the files you want to move in the IMatch file window, left-click and hold.
3. Drag the files from IMatch to the Explorer window. If the Explorer window is not visible, drag the files to the icon of the Explorer window in the Windows taskbar and wait a second until Windows brings the Explorer window into the foreground.
4. Hold down the <Shift> key (otherwise IMatch copies the files) and release the mouse button.

It seams like in IMatch 5 you have to use drag and drop to do a lot of things. Is drag and drop the only way to move files in IMatch 5?

If you want to copy or move a file to a folder not indexed by the database, this is the way to do it. It's fast, comfortable and Windows users are used to using drag and drop.

When you copy or move files within the IMatch database, you can use the keyboard shortcuts as well .

See File Management in the IMatch help for all the available commands, including drag & drop, keyboard shortcuts, Favorites, ...

P.S.

Sorry, can't explain it better. Just drag the file from IMatch to Windows Explorer.

I must be doing something wrong. I left click the file in IMatch 5 and drag it to the folder  in  Windows Explorer but nothing happens.

Left Click not Right. The only way to move a file in IMatch 5 is to drag and drop. Right?

You left click and hold the mouse button down while you drag the file and only let go of the left mouse button when you have the mouse pointer over the folder you want to drop it in.

You could also use a script to move the file, I have one if you're interested in using it.
