Every now and again if I'm resizing panels I get multi images or a red line where a panel used to be.

Anyone else suffer from this.

I'm using inbuilt graphics on the MB.

Looks like a screen redraw probem for me. Never saw that before. What happens if you maximize/minimize the IMatch window, or resize it a bit?

The problems still occur if the screen has been resized.

The screen does correct itself after about 1/4 of  a second so I think it is a redraw problem.

I don't have this happen on any other programs I use, even Photoshop 6 runs smoothly.

Its no big problem for now. I intend to purchase a dedicated Video Card later so hopefully this problem will go away.

As long as you are the only user reporting this, I can do very little. Such issues often depend on a specific hardware or maybe even something trivial like the database being too busy, a virus checker temporarily blocking a file IMatch is trying to access, all this can block/freeze the user interface for a few ms and generate a temporary redraw problem...

Hi Mario

I've just purchased a new graphics card to try and resolve this problem I was having using on-board graphics.

New card is a Radeon R7 250 - 1GB GDDR5.

The problem still exists, makes no difference whether the database contains 3 images or 18,000.

Anyone else have the same problem when resizing panels by moving the mouse back and forth a few times?

Sorry, works OK here. Haven't ever had the problem you report.

I've made a couple of videos to show the problem. While doing so I discovered that the problem occurs when the panel that is being resized is made smaller.

Video1 shows with a slim panel, not much redraw problem when making panel larger.

Video2 shows a wide panel and big problems with redraw when making smaller.

Video1 = 1562 Kb   =   https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/61201440/test1.zip

I see something similar to what you captured on your second video.
As soon as I stop dragging the panelsize the screen redraws and everything is back to normal, this takes only a split-second.
I never considered this as a bug or a problem, given all the work IMatch has to do to draw the screen, refresh panels etc.
Besides, I set the panels, their position and size only once, hardly ever touch the layout afterwards.
Enjoy!

Herman.

This behavior is perfectly normal. IMatch cannot keep up reloading the data and repainting the screen. As soon as you release the mouse, the panel has time to reload the data and refresh everything.

Hi Mario

Well I wouldn't call it  perfectly normal behavior myself.

Seems to me that IMatch is trying to reload the data and repaint the screen every 1/20th of a second or so.

Why not have it reload the data only when the mouse is released.

IMatch responds to messages sent by windows, e.g. "window resized".
In addition, these messages are not handled by IMatch directly, but by the user interface toolkit, which then delegates to IMatch. Even attempting to fix this for the small benefit of delayed repainting while a user continuously drags the size handles would be a major effort.

I wonder how often you resize panels, dragging them smaller and larger without releasing the mouse than this can even be considered a nuisance. I could spent days trying to improve this for you, without even knowing if this would be fruitful. Please consider that there are about 50 open bugs and 150 open feature requests...

Erik

I had something similar to the original one (the red line thing) back in the beta testing phase back in February and March (2014).  I never really thought of it as a bug (at least not with IMatch) because it would clear up fairly quickly.  I have not had the problem since then.

I too see interface problems frequently. But since they are so minor/easy to fix I never found
it worth reporting (considering all the other outstanding bugs).

Yesterday I had a new one: The window on the right screen (main window) was not displayed but the mouse/interface behaved as if it
were displayed on the screen. (Too tips popping up) Minimizing/Maximizing fixed this quickly.
