diagnostic - files marked as pending write-back

Recently my diagnostics have frequently reported 'files having pending write-backs with nothing to write-back, fixed'

How does this get fixed?

After the most recent diagnostic warning (which reported 3 such files), I went back into Imatch and did Command->Metadata Writeback->for all pending files.   The dialog box reported 3 files with pending write-backs (so I assume that the fix is not to un-mark the images as needing a write-back).   I issued the command and Imatch reported that metadata was being written back.

I'm curious what is actually happening in that scenario?

Were you doing Copy and Paste Attributes before noting the errors? I wonder if there is something not quite right but I've not put my finger on the exact detail.

No, I had created some versions, with automatic propagation of metadata.   I neglected to check if the three files with pending writebacks were among the masters or versions I had been working with.
