On installing 114 I got a false positive with Avast.

Herdprotect shows this file is ok:

I test all builds with four separate virus checkers before uploading, On the web server runs yet another virus checker engine.
The magazine c't checks each trial version of IMatch (they host it in addition ot my own servers) with over 30 (!) different virus checkers.

False positives happen all the time. Some virus checker vendors allow you to upload a copy of the potentially infected file so they can analyze it and add an exception to their next update.

I use Avast and didn't get a false positive.

I sometimes have had cause to upload a file to https://www.virustotal.com/ , which I understand is now owned by Google.  I wonder if submitting each release there  would help, as AV companies are supposed to get the results.

I'm not really keen on sending Google free copies of my software. Who knows what they do with it?

Perhaps not, but some user might if they get a false positive.

I made the initial comment, simply as a flag for Mario/Users to let all know it is a false positive.

I note the largest file that can be uploaded to virustotal is 64 MB. IMatch is bigger, so they should not get the exe.

In any case I do hope that Mario sets a time bomb on each version that is not too far out, say 2-3 months (tupdate frequency is currently less than monthly) asking users to download most recent version if they are past the timebomb date.

I think I understand your reasoning, but I don't agree.  People need to be able to use the current version of what they purchased if they wish, rather than being forced to upgrade.  There are other ways to prevent (or at least minimise) unauthorised usage, should Mario wish to go that route.
