Problems with permissions on imatch5.pts file - How to fix?

Imatch wont open, it complains about access to imatch5.pts (Which I have copied from another system)
The screen shot shows the difference between the good file (on left) and the bad one.

I made the permissions and owners identical - except for the extra user "Erich"
I need help on how to remove the extra user "Erich" on the bad side. (On the assumption that this
is what stops  Imatch from accepting the file.)

When I try this removal I get the message in the screenshot 2. I don't know how to turn off the option
for inheriting permissions. HELP!

(Why the extra user should prevent access is a mystery to me.)

I suspect that I might have to do something in the command window running under privileges.

The security permissions copied from the other system will not work on your current system. You can remove them.
Looks like Everyone has access to the .PTS file, so this is OK. But the user under which you run IMatch must have write permissions to the config folder as well, because the database system needs to create temporary files in the config folder when it works with the PTS file.

I just switch .pts files in the same folder. One works, the other does not.
It seems rather confusing.
The last test I did (with an older .pts file which works, rather than a new one generated) shows absolutely identical protection yet one
works the other does not.
Screenshot shows (one simple) view of it.

Compare the "Users" settings, not the SYSTEM account.
Use the "Effective Permissons" tab in the Security dialog to see the effective permissions on the file for the user under which you log in and run IMatch. This is what matters.

The settings under Effective Permissions are identical for both "users" and "Erich" on the good and the bad file ??????????

I just saw the same problem reported in topic 3618.

I attach my log file: it first reports the .pts file as writeable - later it says it is not.
I suspect a erroneous error message.

The database system reports a damaged settings database. Please replace and retry.

I got this .pts file from the desktop before I went on the road. So I can not investigate further. The replacement (old one on the laptop) works.

Does this mean the error message was misleading? (wrong)

Mario

Since settings databases usually don't corrupt, there is no explicit message for every possible case.
A quick check of the log file always gives the detailed reason for the problem, so no further error messages are needed.

I also  had a problem with my .pts-file after upgrading to 5.2.8.
In the log I found a database-problem and can't start the new release.
The solution was to rename the .pts and start without the .pts.
I only was asked once  to choose my language and after that IM started and I had not seen any problem.

IMatch 5.2.8 and later perform a verification of the PTS file - always. I've added this just in case, as part of the startu-up checks IMatch performs. I have mentioned that in the release notes.

If a PTS file has a physical damage, this will no be detected and reported in the log file and via the dialog.
