what happened to tag trimming in the diagnostic tool (5.2.16) ?

I don't see the tag trimming step in the diagnostic tool with 5.2.16, and I don't get the option to remove superfluous data, or skip removing the data,  that used to appear just after clicking 'start' on the diagnostic tool.  ???

The documentation of the tag manager still looks the same....

This is only shown when there are tags to trim (when you have removed tags in the Tag Manager). IMatch resets the flag after it has trimmed superfluous tags.

But from 5.2.10 on I have done my own diagnostics, always chosen 'do not remove superfluous data', and turned off diagnostics when doing backups.   Tag Manager shows my un-selected tags as still having data, which they should.   But when I start the diagnostic in 5.2.16 I do not see the option to not remove superfluous metadata, and the diagnostic tool does not appear to remove anything.

Is 5.2.16 set to only do trimming if changes have been made in the Tag Manager (in previous versions I got options/saw the trimming step even when no change had been made to the Tag Manager) ?

What happens if you just un-check a tag in Tag Manager and close with OK, then open it again and re-check it? This will should set the trim flag and diagnosis should show that.

The general idea was that uses let IMatch trim when the diagnosis offers it. I did not run exhaustive tests of the survival of the trim flag for several diagnosis runs, upgrade installations, intrinsic database upgrades after installing new version etc...

I tried that on my testing installation and the diagnostic did offer the options to not remove superfluous data.   I guess .16 only offers those options in response to changes in Tag Manager.  I did not experience this when moving to .12 or .14 , however.

Mario

Did you try what I asked (un-checking and re-checking)? Does this trigger the trim flag for the diagnosis?

Sorry, I interpreted your statement wrong. So it's OK, then?
If you make a change in the Tag Manager which requires a trim, the diagnosis displays this?
If there is nothing to trim, the diagnosis will not offer the choice.

Yes, it works. I just hadn't seen that same behavior in the last two versions so I was a little wary of what was happening.
