Hi,

I would like to report something similar to this here:
https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=2483.msg16091#msg16091

I have many files with Created Date different to January 2014 being shown in the timeline as dated "1.1.2014". I have read the help file on this and cannot find any date & Time information which corresponds to the 1.1.2014.. even with the ECP.

If I update the metadata (select the files and click on the pencil in the file window), the problem is solved. The files are displayed correctly in the timeline.

In other cases, the files to not display the pencil, and it seems as if the metadata does not need to be written back. However, if I use the metadata write back option in the menu (or with Ctrl+Alt+S), the data is re-read, and problem solved.

In the preferences "Preferences / Background processing Metadata writeback" is deactivated. Shall I activate this as standard? I don't recall me having deactivated it.

Thanks a lot!
Ignacio

The timeline uses the standard File Date & Time IMatch derives from the EXIF/XMP metadata in the file. Which tags are considered when producing this standard time on import is documented in the IMatch help. Search for File in the hep and then double click on Date and Time. Then compare this with the date and time information IMatch displays in the Metadata Panel in Browser mode.

Hi Mario,

I had looked at the Help file... thanks.  My problem is as follows:

There is no Exif which shows the date 1.1.2014. I have looked at the Metadata using the metadata browser, as well as the ECP. Yet IMATCH displays that date as being contained in the Atribute "Date & Time". If instead of Date & Time I use "Date Created", for instance, the it gest displayed correctly in the Thumbs View.

But the Timeline does not use the Date Created for grouping the files, but rather the "Date & Time". That means that files with Created Date in Feb, will get shown under "January"

I have attached two files, in case they help.

I cannot add the NEF, but can send you the file per mail, if required.

Thanks.

Hi Mario,

I have sent you the NEF and XMP files. After that I opened the DB and realized that the metadata had been written to the IM5 DB and the pencil was no longer to be seen. I'm not sure whay, but the metadata had been written. With it, the issue was solved.

Maybe the image will help understand the issue, but if not.. well. I'll provide another image.

Thanks!
Ignacio

I've imported the NEF file into a database.
The date created and date digitized are both reported as 2014:02:15 12:11:45+01:00.
The modify date is reported as 2014:12:09 21:35:25.
These values are from the EXIF data contained in the image.
The same timestamps are also in the XMP file.

IMatch imports the image, correctly sets the Date & Time global value to 2014:02:15 12:11:45 (German Time Zone) and also shows the image in the corresponding 2014 February timeline slot. I can see no problem, at least not with the image and XMP you have sent to me. The XMP reports that it was created/updated with IMatch version 5.2.8.
