Good morning,

I was looking at some photos from 10 years ago and noticed for about 50 of them the keywords are repeated several tims (see the attachment). Any idea where thiscould have come from? It starts in the middle of a series of photos taken the same time and at the same place and ends at the end of that series.

Thanks

Which software did you use to process these files?

Both were taken with a film camera, scanned with a Nikon Coolscan and edited with Photoshop. But the images with several times the same keywords have a line in the metadata: Interoperability index-R98-DCF basic file.

I found I can not delete those keywords.

I attached 2 files to show the difference.

Why can't you delete the keywords in IMatch? What does happen?
The interop index is normal and not related to keywords.

The keywords exist in blocks of 3. When I delete 1 keyword, the whole block goes. However, they all come back when I write back the metadata.

I attached a logfile.

I here assume you are using the Keyword Panel to change the keywords?
How do you remove keywords?
Please attach or send me a sample file so I can see for myself.

I tried deleting from the keyword panel, using both the check boxes at the bottom as well as the list at the top.

I attached a file, but just to rule out a misunderstanding, the problem only occurs with a small number of 15 year old images. The other 50 000 are fine.

This file has not only duplicate keywords inside the hierarchical keywords tag, but also two XMP records.
From the software tag it looks like this XMP was last updated by IMatch Beta 5.0.0.124 so this might come from an experiment, or the data was just like this before.

The easiest way to fix this is to strip the XMP records from the file and let IMatch create a new record on import. IMatch imports the existing legacy IPTC keywords (which are hierarchical, separated by |) and re-creates all the data. I would suggest you try this for one file using the "Delete XMP Metadata" preset. Then check in the Metadata Panel if all the data you want is still there.
