email does not get sent to entered address unless preset is updated.

When I use the send email option (a preset is selected) and I enter a new email address it asks if I want to store
the updated preset. If I say no it will send the email to the address stored in the preset and not
to the address I entered
. I don't think it should work this way - is there a reason it does?

I don't understand.

You are using which feature in IMatch?
You enter the email address where?
What does the message say, exactly?

For example, when I use the Email Export Module, I can change the "To" address and I won't get asked about updating whatever preset...

Changing the To email address do not cause an update of the preset.
You have to change something else as well.

I drag some files to the Email export.
I select a preset.
I change the To address to something else.
I press Send.

No dialog box is displayed and the email is sent to the new address.

Only difference: I do not select a preset - I use the one already shown.

In my case I do get a dialog asking if I want to save the changes to the preset.

Mario

I don't get a prompt whether I select a preset or use whatever was last set.
Please describe your steps in detail.
Save your preset once in case it has a pending update or something. Then retry.

I created a new preset. Same behavior. If I make changes to the Addressee or change the preset to be used by the batch
processor it asks if the changes should be saved. If I say no it uses the stored values for the email and not the entered values.

I invoke the email by pulling a jpg file to the Import/Export panel and dropping it to the email option.

I have looked into this and I understand it (again). This behavior is indeed by design.

If you use a named preset (not the "Last used settings") IMatch will prompt you if you want to change the changes you have made in the dialog to this preset. If you don't save your changes, the current settings in the preset will be used when sending emails (e.g. the old to address).

The functionality which sends the email is independent from the dialog box (which allows import & export modules like E-Mail to work from Favorites, for example). It either uses the "Last used settings" or uses the named preset you had selected.

If I understand this correctly:
Every time I want to mail to a different address I have to create a new preset i.e. duplicate and rename the preset
and then modify the copy and use it.

Would be more convenient if it were to ask:
"Do you like to store the current settings as a new preset"

Mario

Use the "last recent" preset if you don't want to persist your changes into one of your names presets.
