iMatch 5.5 does not display images after upgrade from 5.4

I just upgraded to 5.5.6 from 5.4 and when hitting enter on a single image, the file viewer opens but does not display any image, only the small thumbnails at the bottom.

If I double click the same image to open the slide show, it does display the image.

Any ideas?

I set debug logging, clicked the image and hit enter - this appears in the log. Note the errors.

There's also no image in the quick view pane. In fact if I click on the Categories tab (with Quick View/Favourites/Keywords) then click back on Quick View, the Categories display remains. All I get constantly in the log file is regular repeats of

IMatch requires the platform 1 update to be installed for Windows 7 (this was released in 2013). It seems that your system is missing that update and that the installed DirectX version is outdated and not suitable for IMatch 5.5. IMatch gets only error messages back when it tries to render images via DirectX in the Viewer and Quick Preview Panel.
