IMatch 3.3 Schemas

I no longer have IMatch 3 on my computer, but I need one of the categories from IMatch 3.3. How can I get the categories from IMatch 3.3 with  out reinstalling IMatch 3.3?

IMatch 3 is very very old.
The categories are part of the database and can only be extracted when you open the database in IMatch.
IMatch 3.6.118 should be able to open/convert it, and this version can be installed on the same PC as IMatch 5.5. If you have a second computer, that's preferred nevertheless.

"If you have a second computer, that's preferred nevertheless." Ok I have IMatch 3.6.118 on my laptop. Now how do I get the category I want in to IMatch 5.5?

IMatch 3.6 includes a database converter (START menu, IMatch program group and also in the Tools ? or Database ? menu). Sorry, this was so long ago.

1. Run the converter to convert your 3.3 database into the format used by IMatch 3.6.

2. Open the database in IMatch 3.6 and export the categories via Database > Import & Export > Export Category Schema.

If you want to export only the category schema (without file assignments) use the standard format. Else select the "with file links" format
Put a check in front of the categories you want to export. To export all categories, check @All and also the include child-categories option.
Save the file to a folder or your desktop.

In IMatch 5, open the Import & Export panel (View > Panels > ...) and click on the "Run" button in the Category Import. In the file open dialog box, select the "IMatch 3 Format" in the drop-down box on the lower right. Locate the category schema file you have exported from IMatch 3.6 and import it. This will bring your old category schema into IMatch 5.5.

If you have exported the schema with file links, and your IMatch 5.5 database contains the same files as your IMatch 3.3 database, IMatch automatically re-establishes the category assignments.
