Under preferences->File Window->Thumbnail Panels->Fill Thumbnail Panel
there is an option called Fill with relation color

Can't figure out what this is supposed to do. Help please.

(I thought it should show the color in the little square which shows the relationship (Master/version) but this is not so.)

I guess, it does, what it says. The same "command" is in the Layout Editor, there at the top "panel background".

I think, if I remember correct, these two commands are related, the layout editor does "overwrite" the command in the preferences.

But I have not the time just now, to check this fully.

Ah, yes, and the relation color is this one in the prefs, File relations, 2. pane "Versioning" and there color.
Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

It fills the background with the color of the file relation if a) the file is part of a relation and b) you have defined a color for it. See the help for details.

I did now figure it out. What confused me was that I have cascading Versions RAW->jpg and jpg->jpg derivative.
The second rule wins and determines the color.

The color simply shows the file relationship rule which is active.

Thanks.
