Okay, with respect to the provided example of the camera make being the 1st level, and the camera model being the 2nd level:

I've activated the "Other" element on both levels.  This gives rise to an "Other" node at the 1st level, with child categories that are various models of cameras.  These represent images that have an entry for the camera model, but not the camera make.  Likewise, all remaining nodes at the 1st level are legit camera makes that all have child categories, corresponding to the specific camera models.  A few of the camera makes, in my database, have a 2nd-level node entry, "Other".  The files assigned here are those that have a valid camera make entry, but not a valid camera model entry.

What I want to do, given the scenario outlined above, is to know the quickest possible way of using this data driven category to show me all of the images in my database that have a valid camera make entry, but not a valid camera model entry.  What would be a quicker way to accomplish this than actually going through the whole tree manually and selecting the 2nd-level "Other" nodes.  Thanks!

Mario

What if you

- make one dd category A for Make without Other.
. make one dd category B for Model with Other.

Then you could combine "A" and NOT "B.Other" to get all files which have a Make but no Model.
