After a long pause with IMatch (shame on me), having only recently migrated to IMatch 5, I am faced with the following challenge:

I want to to integrate a huge number of slide scans in my existing database, which is categorized with (amongst others) "Event" and "Location".  As all my slides are documented also with such data, I have created a workflow to generates Exiftool commands to write this data into the images - it is written to xmp:HierarchicalSubject.

As a next step I want to import these images with integrating them in the existing category tree based on the information contained in xmp:HierarchicalSubject.

Although after having read a lot in the help file and in the community I have not yet come across a solution.

I would appreciate any hints on how to solve this! (please bare with me if this has been answered before and/or is a trivial question)

The special @Keywords category automatically mirrors hierarchical keywords. Your events and location will show up there automatically.

If you plan to do a lot of "keywording" I recommend you read the help topic for the Keyword Panel and the topic about how @Keyword works.
Both the panel and the special category have many features which will speed up your workflow considerably and save you lots of time.
