Now I have about 4,000 wav files. How should IMatch handle these?

It seems to handle them perfectly well. What do you mean? Please don't speak in riddles.
Since your screen shot shows the time line I assume your question is how IMatch arranges WAV files in the time line?

WAV files have almost no metadata, not time stamps of creation or anything.
IMatch hence uses the "last modified" tmiestamp of the WAV file as returned by Windows to arrange the file on the time line. As explained in the IMatch help system, which you can access by pressing <F1> or via the Help menu in IMatch, you can override this by giving the file a "created" date in the Metadata Panel. IMatch lets the XMP metadata override the 'native' file data.
