Hello,

I asked this question in the old IMatch forum (http://ptforum.photoolsweb.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=70447#Post70447) and have been told that this option will be available in IMatch 5. Unfortunately I was not able to find it although I have been playing with IMatch 5 for some time. I copy my question from the other forum:

"I am in the process of migration from IDI Pro 5 to IMatch 3.6. While testing IMatch functions I found I was missing a feature that I used quite often in IDI. I have a lot of categories and the category tree is complex. So, assigning categories located in different places of the tree can be rather time-consuming. In IDI there is a function (or feature) called "recently used labels". Basically it means that IDI offers you a list of recently assigned categories (you can also set how many categories you want to appear in this list). As a result you may have a list, lets say, 20 categories that you used recently easily accessible without searching in the category tree. Is there a similar function in IMatch available."

I would appreciate if someone can enlighten me. It would help a lot in my workflow.

Thanks.

Pavel.

Do you mean keywords when you talk about categories and labels? I think IDI made some terms up to somehow differ from established naming conventions:

1. A keyword means a flat or hierarchical keyword stored in the IPTC and/or XMP metadata record contained in image files, or in the associated XMP sidecar file.

2. A category can either mean an 1) category metadata tag in a classic IPTC record, or b) a category in IMatch.

3. The term label is used by the XMP standard and the Metadata Working group for a specific metadata field which stores a descriptive text or label for the file, often associated with a specific color.

I think what IDI called labels are in fact keywords. But I'm not sure. Never used it. Best we get the terms right so everybody knows what you mean.

In IMatch 5

when you work with categories (assign files to categories in the Category View or the Category Panel) you can access the recently used categories in the Favorites Panel. The Favorites Panel maintains an automatic history of recently used categories and folders, named Category History and Folder History. Have a look at the Favorites feature, because Favorites can speed up your workflow considerably.

when you work with keywords, the Keyword Panel maintains automatic lists of recently used keywords, the 50 most often used keywords, your personal favorite keywords and also an automatic and rather clever list of keyword suggestions from which you often just can pick the matching keywords. Check out the Keyword Panel and the extensive topic on keywords in the IMatch help.

I mean hierarchical keywords (yes, IDI calls them labels) that are in @Keywords category in IMatch. I have never looked at the Favorites Panel but it seems it is what I was looking for. Thanks a lot!
