Location created

I am assessing the trial copy of IMatch and have great difficulty with the metadata. I have created a custom input screen for the few fields I need. I created Location Created and Location City and Location Country. These don't seem to be linkable in a hierarchy but I don't mind inputing the levels separately. But when I input a Location Created, either it does not save it or it displays and raw XML.
<et:prt xmlns:et="http://ns.exiftool.ca/1.0/">
   <rdf:Bag xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#">
      <rdf:li rdf:parseType="Resource">
         <XMP-iptcExt:City xmlns:XMP-iptcExt="http://ns.exiftool.ca/XMP/XMP-iptcExt/1.0/">Pulborough</XMP-iptcExt:City>
         <XMP-iptcExt:CountryName xmlns:XMP-iptcExt="http://ns.exiftool.ca/XMP/XMP-iptcExt/1.0/">England</XMP-iptcExt:CountryName>

It is showing City and Country form the other two fields but not the value for the actual field - Location Created - where is it?

Thanks

Mario

Location Created is not a single field, it is an entire structure, consisting of many individual fields. Usually you will never tinker with that. IMatch displays the RAW structure in XMP format when you add one of these tags to a custom Metadata Panel layout. Usually you don't.

IMatch separates the structure into Country, City, Location to make it human-readable. During write-back, IMatch re-combines the data into the proper structure required by IMatch. All automatic.

Look at the GPS section in the Default Metadata Panel layout to see which fields you should edit. These are also the tags used by the Map panel, reverse geo-coding etc.

Thank you for your help. I only want to record five fields of metadata for the images -
1) Date taken (for photos I have scanned where the EXIF is either missing or is the scan date - not the date of he original photo. But I want this date to be used correctly in the timeline.
2) Location where taken.
3) People depicted
4) Caption
5) Keywords (ie things shown in the image - buildings, animals, cars etc).

I want to show these in a custom panel where I (and others) can input the values quickly without locating the necessary fields in the hundreds that are in the other panels.

I thought this could be done easily but I am not finding that. I am happy to leave all the data automatically taken from the digital camera as it is.

Many thanks

Alan

1. These date/time fields are shown in the Default layout in the Metadata Panel
2. Also in the Default layout
3. Probably you want to save this as keywords -> Keywords Panel? Or using Face Annotations  in Viewer?
4. Also Default panel
5. Keyword Panel and also, to some extent (no additional keyword features) in the Default layout.

Probably I would just create a new layout, add the tags you need (see Default layout) and you're good.
