I have 2x E5-2687W processors, each has 8 cores, 16 threads.
When I writeback metadata, there are 10 exif processes running. The disk is running at about 60% activity.

I would have thought that more exif processes should run?

Not important, just curious.

This managed dynamically and not only depends on disk activity. IMatch also needs to keep the database up-to-date and throwing 20 processes at this which all compete for database transactions and just step on each others toes will do no good and may cause timeouts, rolled back transactions and whatnot. Low disk utilization may even mean there are too many ExifTool processes running, mind!

You can use the Process Control in the Application Settings to fiddle with that but the automatic is usually just fine.

Thank you for the information... I have no plans to change the process control from automatic.
