A small bit more information for Compacting and optimizing

Hi Mario

This feature request is really, really a very minor one and a really not important one.

You did once enchance the box (see attachement) with the information, how long this task will last.
This information I like very much.

Now, this compacting-tool does always makes my DB-file smaller and I do almost every time look, how much smaller.
But I have to remember me always, how big it was before.

If now this information would be also in this box, this would be great. Not important, but cool.

The information, how big the file is at start, would be cool, how much it is after the work, I could look myself.

Optimizing and compacting a database is not required often, especially when you store the database on a SSD.
Unless you have removed thousands of images from the database, compact will not shave off much of the database size. And if your DB is 8 GB  or only 7.78 GB is really not that important anymore.
The most relevant feature of the optimization is to remove fragmentation from the DB file, but for SSDs this is unimportant. They don't suffer from fragmentation as spinning disks do.

Ist diese Optimierung die gleiche wie bei Pack & Go, nur dass bei P & G  keine Komprimierung stattfindet?

Well, for me it is important, simply to know (I often delete or add hundrets of files).

But as I wrote, not problem for me, I can find these informations simply with the explorer.

Hence solved.

The databases system reuses the space freed by deleting files when you add new files.
Since I have my databases all on a SSD I optimize them maybe once every four to eight weeks.
