I've read in the knowledge base a way to show all the keywords in the filewindow: {File.MD.XMP::Lightroom\hierarchicalSubject\HierarchicalSubject\0|replace:~;==, } ('FUN WITH CUSTOM FILE WINDOW LAYOUTS') Is this possible with categories? Or maybe there is another way to show the categories in the filewindow?

Thanks, Hans

Use the {File.Categories} variable.
For showing full or partial category hierarchy information, see the Help (topic: Using Variables)

However, I prefer using the Categories panel. The Current tab shows all assigned categories for the selected image(s).

And, just to mention it, we have also the Category Dashboard app...

And you can display the categories in the File Window Tip.
I added this entry for this purpose (directly assigned categories only):

{File.Categories.Direct|replace:'==ยด;pereplace:|==>;pereplace:~;==</Run><LineBreak/><Run FontSize="14pt">;prefix:<Run FontSize="14pt">;postfix:</Run>}
