This has been requested by a surprising number of users: A way to import metadata into IMatch Attributes.

IMatch 5 had such an app, but it was written in BASIC and I did not bother to migrate it to IMatch 2017 at the time.
Now I have re-created the app (just neater and faster) for IMatch 2018.

Hm, of course for sure a very good app.

But to be honest, I wonder, for what could this be used, having the metadata in the Attributes?
Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

Eventually it's back (and more flexible than before) - thank you.
Currently I must use the export, manipulate the data externally and then import to accomplish the task.

Many users use Attributes to manage data that should not go (or does not fit!) into metadata. Or to import data from other systems (databases etc.) into IMatch.
Some even copy very long texts and documents into Attributes, several Kilobytes or even Megabytes of text per Attribute!

Merging metadata into Attributes (e.g. the numbers used for file names or the trans ref) makes sense if you need to have information from different sources in one place, e.g. to simply display, searching, sorting, export to other applications, Excel, databases etc. Users do many things with IMatch...

The new App is a great tool to simplify this. No programming required  ;)

I did the translation from English to German (!) using the machine translation provided by the IMatch App Translator App.
The new app has not that many resources and I had to change only 3 of the machine-translated strings by hand (especially the button caption "Abort", which was not translated to German - heh).

The machine translation is so good...I shall work hard to switch IMatch to use the same translation technology I have designed for apps.
This would allow us to translate IMatch and apps using the same tools (especially the machine translation).

@All Users

I can only suggest you try to translate one or more of the apps shipped with IMatch into your language. It takes only minutes and is fun.
Currently we handle English, German, Dutch (by Mees) and Portuguese (by José). Other languages welcome.

For instructions on how to translate an App and how to use the App Translator app already installed on your computer, see this page:
