read only database

I tried everything to get rid of the "read only" opening of a freshly generated database. I gave all of the necessary permits to all of the folders. Where can I find the respective "option" within IMatch to deactivate the "read only"-mode?

Mario

Make sure the option Open databases read-only is not enabled in the Database menu.

I'm not sure why you created a poll for your first post???

That would be a a good answer if it worked. However, in my database menu the "open read only" choice is marked with a yellow frame as a default and I can't change that. Even if I try to open with the "open database" it's still the read only I get. I just can't deactivate this default. That's the Problem (see attachment)

By the way, it's Windows 7 professional and the newest Version "IMatch 5.3.14 Vollversion, ExifTool-Version 9.90, Language: German" , I installed after I had to have a new hard-disk built into my Laptop. Before, everything worked without a Problem.

Concerning your "poll"-question: It's the first time I entered the community-chat, and I just don't know the communication rules yet. So I just marked things where I thought it might be ok. So, what's the "poll"-issue?

Best wishes and thanks for helping.

When you select the menu entry, the checkmark will go away. It works like a check box. IMatch will display a dialog, asking you whether you want to reload the database. It's active now, so IMatch will open all databases in read-only mode.
If you de-activate it and then reload the database, it will open in writable mode.

Hello!
This method is not useful for me. Database is steel read-only

Mario

Show us an IMatch log file (log file). This will tells us why IMatch opens the database read-only.

There are only 3 possible reasons:

Expired Trial Version
User has no write file system permissions to the database file / folder
Use has enabled the "Open database in read-only" mode command in the Database menu.

Ok! I got it. It was trial period :) Now all is fine, thanks!

Mario

When the 30-day trial period is over, IMatch displays some hints in the user interface. And also tells you that it will now open databases older than 30 days in read-only mode only.
If you need more than a month to determine if you want to continue using IMatch, you can continue with the trial version in read-only mode.
