I have had to rebuild my computer so a fresh install of windows 7 and then a newly purchased copy of imatch 2017.

I've installed the Nikon WIC Codecs, however my Raw images are not displayed either in the Quickview windows, or the Viewer.

WIC Diagnostics does give an error:

WIC: Testing file 'Z:\Unfiltered\IMG933\I_2018060218_122053_00.NEF'
Thumbnail: Codec 'Nikon .NEF Raw File Decoder'
(GetThumbnail failed (88982F44 Unknown error 0x88982F44).) 0x0 pixel in 0 ms.
Preview: Codec 'Nikon .NEF Raw File Decoder'
      () 1620x1080 pixel in 16 ms.
Full resolution: Codec 'Nikon .NEF Raw File Decoder'
      () 4800x3200 pixel in 0 ms.

Not sure where to go from here...

This looks OK. The installed Nikon codec can extract a small preview (1620 pixel) and the full RAW at 4800 pixels.
The Viewer and Quick View Panel should have no troubles displaying the files.

1. Please switch IMatch to debug logging under Help menu > Support.
2. Select some of your NEF files in a File Window and open them in the Viewer with <Enter>.
3. Navigate between the files even if you cannot see them.
4. Go to Help > Support > Copy Log file and save the log file to a file on your disk. ZIP this file and attach.

Error messages encountered by IMatch while trying to load the files will be included in the log file.

Note: Windows 7 is a very old version of Windows. IMatch requires at least platform update 1 to be installed (so the DirectX version on the computer is at least barely up-to-date). Else IMatch will be unable to display anything.

See the IMatch Hardware and Software Requirements here: https://www.photools.com/hardware-software-requirements/

This page also has a link to the platform update 1 service pack download site at Microsoft and instructions. When I recall correctly, this platform update was released back in 2013 but if you have disabled some options in Windows Update, it will not be automatically installed. It was an optional upgrade at the time.

Solved -

It was a Windows 7 problem. I was working from a fresh Windows 7 install from an older disk. While I was re-installing software such as iMatch, windows was updating itself. Once it updated itself enough times, the problem went away.

Thanks for the help.

Support for the old Windows 7 platform is dropping rapidly. Many 3rd party toolkit vendors are phasing out support for Windows 7, and once this happens, a lot of software will stop running on this old Windows version. Just saying...
