Read Metadata (Ratings) not work anymore.

Hi,

something I'm doing wrong or maybe something is wrong (settings?). When I want to update metadata - read from the files, it doesn't see anything updated in the database for me.
I have several hundred pictures where e.g. the rating has changed. None of these are transferred to IMatch. Ctrl+Shift+F5 - read Metadata, nothing happens.
Does IMatch write such things maybe in a logfile or something, where I could look up what he doesn't like?

I'm not sure that I understand. You write:

QuoteI have several hundred pictures where e.g. the rating has changed.

Do you mean you have modified these files in another application and IMatch does not recognize that the files have changed?
Which application did you use to change the metadata in these files?
Has the other application really updated the files on disk?

IMatch recognizes modified files by comparing the "last modified" timestamp recorded in the file system with the corresponding timestamp in the database.

If you don't see the changes even after a forced rescan or a "Reload Metadata" there are some potential reasons:

a) The other application has not modified the data in the file.

b) You have pending changes for metadata in your IMatch database and the "protect" option is set under Edit > Preferences > Metadata 2:

Yes

ExifTool (some with PhotoSupreme and/ or Capture One) and Yes XMP files are actual

Mario

When you rescan a folder (or when IMatch rescans the folder automatically because the folder timestamp has changed or it processes Windows messages) it will log AddOrUpdateFile entries to the log file. These show which files where checked and whether or not the timestamp has changed. If IMatch logs "File is current", the timestamp has not changed and hence the file is not re-processed.

But when you not even see the modified data after a forced update, no data was changed.
You can check in the ExifTool Command Processor with the "List Metadata" to see the data that is actually in the file.

IMatch mean file is up-to date (but its not correct). But its not important now.

If I try Ctrl+Shift+F5 (Force Update) nothing changes.
Can it be that I've made a stupid setting somewhere else that disturbs the update?

Mario

This seems to be the XMP data embedded in the image itself? Is there also a XMP sidecar file? If so, what does it contain?

Forcing a rescan throws away all data IMatch has for that file and then fills it again from whatever metadata is found in the image and the XMP sidecar file.

I wrote you an email about it with example XMP file and IMatch Logfile
