Just for some information...

Which metadata is used for Date & Time in the "Capture Time" sort profile. I can't see how to find this out.

The reason I ask is that I have files (from iphone, Lenovo and D500) which don't sort correctly until I add the meta tag XMP::xmp\CreateDate.

Thanks,
Aubrey.

If you select Edit from the sort profile menu you can see that the Capture Time uses File.DateTime and File Name.
File DateTime is the standard timestamp IMatch derives from XMP created/digitized.

See https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#tech_exifdate.htm for details.
If your files don't have metadata IMatch can use, it falls back to the last modified date and time.
D500 should work no problem. iPhone is always special and Lenovo can be a laptop or whatever device...?
Check the metadata in the ECP to see what is contained in the file and then use the link above to determine which timestamp IMatch may find. Or not.

Tip: If you have identified a proprietary metadata tag that you consider as a usable timestamp you can use a metadata template to copy it into the XMP created timestamp.

Exactly what I did!.
I used XMP::xmp\CreateDate as primary search and all worked fine.
