Hi,

I'd like to hide files with a specific extension. I noticed that files with some extensions are not displayed by IMatch. An example are 'gpx' geotagging files. My EOS 6D insists to create 'LOG' files of type NMEA. How can I hide these files too? I searched options but didn't find a setting for hide/show.

As always: any help appreciated, Hans

IMatch by default imports all files which are 'known/configured'. The .log file extensions is used by many users in the scientific community and also in the insurance and technical specialist user base. IMatch manages .LOG files as part of the "Text Files Formats" group.

If you really have to, you can disable the "Text File Formats" group in Edit menu > Preferences > File Formats. That also excludes other text file formats.
IMatch will then no longe index them. .LOG files already in your database can be removed with the "Remove from Database" command available in the File Window context menu.

I have never heard of a camera producing .LOG files. What is the purpose of these files? If there is no purpose, why don't you delete them, or move them to a folder not indexed by IMatch.
If the .LOG files are important, you should configure them as buddy files for the original image file, so IMatch keeps them together.

Hi,

thanks for the answers. loweskid is right, Canon cameras with built-in GPS save the gps data in *.log files, one per day, in NMEA format. As does the Solmeta GMAX-EOS gps logger.
I convert these files to GPX with GPSBabel but according to the principle "Never delete Source Files" I keep the LOG files too.

Kind regards, Hans
