this is a follow-up to an old thread https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=1976.0 requesting nef\.dop to be added.

This might be done also for other raw formats, e.g. for CR2:

^(_*{name})[+\-_]*[0-9|a-z]*\.(jpg|jpeg|dng|tif|dop|CR2\.dop)$

BTW: Is there a way to get the default definitions other than in the installation dialog? It's not hard to type them manually, though.

I'm not sure what you want with this FR. Everybody can add whatever extension they need, depending on their tool chain...?
I don't want to flood the standard relations shipped with IMatch with all possible extensions used by whatever RAW processors currently in use.

It's just about making them equal for all camera manufacturers. Currently they are not:

Only Nikon files have .nef.dxo;.nef.bib;.nef.dop links (nrw accordingly), but not the other formats.

BTW: It could be that .dxo isn't in use anymore, but I'm not sure.

My other question was whether the shipped standard relations shipped with IMatch are (shall be) available only in the database creation dialog. Not important though, just a thought.

IMatch databases often mange files created over 5, 10 or even 20 years. If the .dxo is not used today anymore, it may have been used 3 years ago. Hence I leave it to the user, using the nef variant as an example.

This is a step in the initial creation of the database, as a convenience feature for new users. My guess is that it is ignored by most users anyway.
Similar examples and detailed information can be found in the help system.
If you want to add something to the corresponding help section, let me know the details below.

They most likely will never be.
Camera / software vendors tend to come up with something new from time to time, I don't expect Mario to keep up with all pre-defined things which, in my understanding, are just there to get you started.

For my use of IMatch the pre-defined relation definitions are over-complicated anyway.

I like to use one definition for each post-processing software I use, this makes it easier for me to keep an overview.

For DxO Photo Lab sidecars I use for Master Expression \.(jpg|cr2|dng)$ and for Link Expression {filename}\.(dop)$
Couldn't be much simpler IMHO.
Enjoy!

Herman.

I only posted the request because the 2014 request from jch2103 (link in OP) has been implemented immediately, so I thought this kind of suggestions is welcome.

I didn't mention it for my needs, and it's no problem for me to have the predefined dop/dxo expressions only for Nikon.

I'm still not sure about what your FT is asking about?

Do you propose change to the sample presets added when IMatch creates a database?
Do you propose changes to the sample presets IMatch shows in the wizard for new databases and first-time users?
Do you propose changes to the help topic covering file relations?

yes.

John "jch2103" suggested this 2014 in https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=1976.0 and upon his posting you added the extensions for nef.

My idea was "why not do the same for the other raw formats?"

But as I wrote: This is not important. Don't let us waste energy.

I just wonder why you implemented John's suggestion 2014 immediately but argue with me if I simply repeat this suggestion for other cameras.

Please let me know whether my English writing is too bad (then I do it in German) or if I wrote something wrong in the past.

no. The help is quite clear about this and I had no problem to add it.

Then we'll close this. If the help is OK, I'll keep the sample relations as they are.
