Not a bugreport - but to make DB more "neutral" for bugreports

Mario,

For privacy reasons would it be good if we could remove the thumbnails from the DB.
Can you provide a script to remove all thumbnails?

Or maybe a sqlite statement that we can run under sqliteexpert www.sqliteexpert.com to remove the thumbnails?

Cheers, Michael

You mean in case you need to send me a database for analysis?

That's thankfully not very often required, and I delete the databases when I don't need them anymore. Like any material I get from users while working on bug reports. Sometimes I want to keep images with damaged image or meta data for my bad files test library. I then always ask. When I have to send out an image to a third party (e.g. the developers of the image library I use, or Phil from ExifTool) I also explicitly ask for permission.

Deleting the thumbnails will break the database and would make it useless for me. A user can always minimize the number of files via the Remove Folder from Database command, if this does not affect the tests.

I could add a function which clears / blackens thumbnails in the database by just replacing every thumbnail with an all black image. Such a function would be fairly easy to implement but was never requested or needed before.

I will move this into the Feature Request Forum.

Mario,

Clearing or something like that would do it... (and would make the DB quite a bit smaller)
Now that I have "all" images in my database - there are lots of pictures in it I don't want to share for whatever reason.

I don't think this should be a feature within IM and I would not bother to integrate it... (too dangerous)
A script would be better I think, if that is possible.

Even this has never been requested, I think this would make people more comfortable to share their DB.
And I believe, not every user (when IM finally is out) is realizing that the thumbnails are part of the DB they upload...
Cheers, Michael

This cannot be done via a script. Scripts have now write access to thumbnails.
