Category Formulas

I don't know if this is a bug or by design so I'll post my question here first.  I have some category formulas configured and my options for those categories include setting the color code option.  This works for category formulas that contain references to labels and ratings but not for the following formula:

"@Collection[PendingWriteBack]"

As soon as I use the above formula any previously configured color coding for that category is removed, there's no option to re-enable it either.  Is this by design or a bug?

I just noticed none of the formula categories have color options but the labels and ratings formula categories inherit the parent categories color.  By design or a bug, it's not consistent behavior.
