Hi everybody !

I've just started to use Imatch.
Since I've been using Lightroom, I imported my keyword list in the thesaurus and began to reorganize it. My goal is to use hierarchical keyword as much as possible.

My main concern is that the hierarchical view doesn't refresh as I reorganize the thesaurus (mainly using Copy / paste to move keywords) even after I closed the thesaurus manager.

Maybe I've missed something about this.

Thanks for your help.

You mean the thesaurus panel inside the Keyword Panel?
Just tried, works here.

Maybe close and re-open the Keyword Panel once?

Propagate keywords again if you mean the hierarchy changing in the keywords panel (Not the Thesaurus pop-up)?

Mario

Keep in mind that if ou make changes to your thesaurus, this does not impact existing keywords in your files.

To Mario :
Closing and opening it again doesn't change anything.

Yes, I know that reorganizing keywords in the thesaurus panel doesn't change the keywords already set in the files.

In fact, looking a bit more thoroughly, it appears that the thesaurus display only shows the keywords that I created and which are not attributed to any file. They are in Bold caracters in the thesaurus manager.

I took some screen copies of what I can see in Imatch (see attached files «thesaurus-manager» and «thesaurus-in-keywords-panel».

In other words, the thesaurus in the keyword panel doesn't show keywords already attributed to files.

Maybe, there is something to do to have them appear in the thesaurus view in the keyword panel or I'm doing wrong.

Thanks for helping.

The Keyword Panel shows only keywords in the current language.
Please note that none of the current metadata standards (including XMP) supports multiple languages reliably - including keywords.
It makes no sense to add keywords in different languages to the thesaurus at this time.
You have added keywords in [fr] which is not the language IMatch has been set to use for metadata. Hence these entries are displayed in a different front and with a language code.
The bold keywords are keywords in the current language.

The golden rule is to maintain one set of keywords in the neutral language. Only then the metadata you use works across all metadata formats.
IMatch was (is) a bit ahead of its time by supporting multiple languages in the Thesaurus. But metadata can only be in one language. Maybe when metadata standards catch up and writing the (sparse!) XMP tags which allow for multiple languages are not stripped by other software (this means you, Adobe!) I will invest more in this area.

Until then, use only one language (neutral language) in your thesaurus. Then the Keyword Panel will show them all.

Hi !

Ok. Thanks, Mario, for these explanations.

Next question : is there a way to change the language setting for a keyword or a set of keywords ?
I've just tried to do it and it seems impossible to change this setting in the thesaurus manager.
I've searched also in the metadata's preferences tabs and I could not see anything to change this setting.

Maybe, I need to import again my keywords list. I remember that at this step, it's possible to set the language.

Thanks for helping.

Hi !

I've just tried to reimport the keywords list and to change the language setting at this step.
It's possible to set Fr or neutral as language.
If you choose neutral (ie : no choice), it display keywords in bold and then the keywords appear correctly in the thesaurus display in the keyword windows.

Issue is now closed.

Thanks.

Mario

Stick to neutral.
This makes your keywords compatible with XMP and other metadata formats and also across platforms and applications.
Multi-language metadata is still somewhat of a future thing.
