Title: Category History should not show data driven categories
Post by: ubacher on October 14, 2013, 08:31:32 AM
Categories which can not be assigned to an image should not be shown in the Category history panel
since they only clutter up the panel.
( I assume one uses the history panel to assign the shown categories)

I'm not sure that I understand    (https://www.photools.com/community/Smileys/photools/confused07.gif)

Which categories do you mean?
Categories are added to the Category History when you assign images to them. This includes @Keywords categories. Other data-driven categories cannot be used for assignments and thus don't show up in the Category History?

Or am I wrong?

For example:  On my Category History I see: (among legitimate cats)

Imatch Sample Categories|Image Files|ISO|......

Extension|jpg

1-Unassigned Images

Unassigned Files

When did these categories show up in the Favorite Category History panel?
What did you do to achieve this? You cannot assign files to any of these categories...

Could they have been assigned by a script? I do run one (ported) script which copies categories from on image to another.
I only check for a few cats which I do not copy. I should skip the category if it IsDataDriven and IsSealed.
Will do that.

Still, I suppose it would also make sense to not add such categories to the history - on your side.

Is there a way to clear them/all or do I just wait until they fall off the list. How long is the list?

The history is automatic and will clear itself over time.

I'm not sure if all script methods check if the user attempts to update a data-driven category. I can envision situations where this could make sense, e.g. in import or repair scripts. Scripts should not assign files to data-driven categories at all. I never thought about this and hence did not extra checks to the routines adding categories to the LRU History. I will add an extra check now.
