Title: Image orientation and Face Annotation shape, User Gallery vs. Copy/Paste
Post by: Tveloso on January 15, 2021, 03:39:26 AM
I found that a Face Annotation added to an image from the User Gallery, is "distorted", if the orientation of the image to which the Gallery Annotation is added, differs from that of the image from which it was saved.

Given two images containing the same person, one in Portrait Orientation, and the other in Landscape...if we add a Face Annotation to the Portrait image, and then save that Annotation to the User Gallery, when we then add the Annotation to the Landscape image by clicking the User Gallery button, it is placed as a horizontally elongated rectangle.  Likewise, an Annotation saved to the User Gallery from a Landscape image gets added to a Portrait image as a vertically elongated rectangle.

But if we use Copy-and-Paste, the annotation retains its square shape, when it's being copied between images with differing orientation.

Could the User Gallery Annotations be made to behave like the Copy-and-Paste operation?

This has been implemented for the next release. See https://www.photools.com/release-notes/ #1337
